I live in Hout Bay , near Cape Town surrounded by the Cape floral kingdom.
Famed for its storms, this rugged habitat is a photographer's paradise - at least on those halcyon days when there is no wind!

I am attracted to the skill, style and beauty of botanical art. While my pictures are not fully in the classical style of botanical art I strive to capture the colour and detailed beauty of the flower structures I see in the veld. I also love to play with the effect that natural light has on petals.

Frequent walks allowing regular exploration and observation at times provides rare glimpses of flowers that reveal their beauty for just one day. These moments also provide fleeting insights into vital relationships that ensure the species live on. Simply having time to stop and watch these small worlds reveals surprising interdependencies between flora and fauna that leave one spellbound.
